RaHN present two documentaries covering the miners’ strikes of the 1980s. Both screenings are FREE entry and there will be have time for discussion at the end.
The Coal Not Dole Strike Dir: Janice Sutherland, 125 mins (documentary)
The film sets the framework of the strike, the main events, thetactics of both sides and the society it took place in.
Pit closure and the Consequences Dir: David Hope, 65 mins (documentary)
The film looks at Mardy, the last pit in the Welsh Rhonda valley.
The Radical History Network is a Haringey based organisation that puts on meetings, events , films etcthat are local, topical or of special interest. They also havea very full literature table and run a book exchange scheme - take a book, give a book - as well as participating in numerous local events . Now in their fourth year of operation, RaHN meets monthly at the Wood Green Social Club , normally on the second Wednesday of the month.
